RE: A-Frame (Really long .... lots of photos)

I'm thankful to God no one was hurt...that's the main thing...stuff can be replaced. Kudos to Keystone for backing their product. Don't think too much of the dealer, though. Glad things turned out fine for you.

RE: I-10 eastbound thru Lake Charles

That's Iowa, La., for folks thinking Iowa. I'm a native of Louisiana and I didn't know there was an Iowa, La.

RE: kitten (Peanut) not eating update

My animals, cats and dogs, all love the WalMart Great Value Brand of Fat Free Plain Nonfat Yogurt. Probably soothes their tummies, too. Sometimes if you feed them a flavor it won't necessarily agree with them...the Plain seems to be tolerated the best. Couldn't hurt to try. Nerves could be playing a part, too. As he settles down and realizes he's finally home, hopefully he'll keep getting better ever day. Sounds like he's really bonded with your hubby.

RE: Creaking floor

I just read an article in GoodHousekeeping about squeaking floors. Their advice was to use lots of baby powder in the seam and that should stop it. Otherwise, you've got to take the board(s) up, etc., what a pain! Can't hurt to try it. Dollar Tree or Dollar General has it cheap enough that you can afford to try it. Let us know how it works if you do this.

RE: Hurricane Ike: my early thoughts

Well, silversand, FEMA has me, as well as most of BR, in a high probability of flooding and anyone that buys my home is required to have Flood Insurance. Our elevation is around 55'. DH says that if our place floods, BR is gonna be washed off the map. We've lived at this location 35 years and never flooded. Water gets past the sidewalk but runs down the street and veers off to the right going down another street...clear as mud? So now I've got to hire a surveyor to get an elevation whatever-you-call-it stating I won't flood from water on the street...FEMA can say whatever they want but it's my nickel that has to prove them wrong. 'Course they've got to make up the money they threw away with both hands after Katrina, don't they? This time, with Gustav, they didn't do that. Things were more organized and thought out...thank God. You still got folks that think the government/other people own them a livin'. Okay, I'm off the soapbox.

RE: Hurricane Ike: my early thoughts

I hope and pray Ike doesn't hit Baton Rouge. We're still trying to recover from Gustav. The majority of BR was without electricity, couldn't find an open/stocked grocery store, of course, you've got the heat/humidity, mosquitos, love bugs to contend with. I was out of electricity only about 70 hours...we're on the same line as the fire dept. and they get power first so we benefit from that. If Ike hits BR are the near vacinity, we're gonna be in deep trouble. As far as the treading water thing, I'd been sunk...my Mae West has apparently deflated, lol. You'd think the belly fat would have me popped out of the water like a buoy but it apparently doesn't work that work...rats!

RE: Hurricane Ike: my early thoughts

"a natural extension of my thrill with experiencing mega-storms 1st hand"...too bad you weren't in New Orleans about 3 years ago...you'd probably had a great time...uh, how long can you tread water? Personally, I've had enough of hurricanes and am ready to bail for TN or points north.

RE: Weight loss

I'm not up on all that body mass stuff but I'm just wondering why you want to have just 11% body fat. Seems like Dr. Oz recommends 25% but I don't remember whether it's for men or women. The older I get the more I like what I call "cushy"...as in, "I'm not fat...I'm cushy." (LOL) Besides, I need the, ugh, "extra body mass" to fill out the wrinkles...God, what a losing battle, but hey, I'm trying...pass the pie, please.

RE: travel trailer water heaters

I have a hot rod for my 6 gallon water heater. I can run it on electric and/or gas. I only turn the gas on when my husband goes camping with me and he wants to take a shower after me. Otherwise, I just use the hot rod...saves my gas. Dutchmen and old guy are absolutely right...limit showers: get wet, turn off the water, lather/shampoo up, turn the water back on, rinse...done. I can do this for about a week to 10 days before dumping the gray water.

RE: Chicken wraps (chicken breast pieces wrapped in bacon)

I use the small chicken wings/elbow. I cut off the wing part and use what I call the wrist. I sprinkle it with Tony's Chachere seasoning, wrap the bacon around it, secure with a toothpick, and bake at 350 - 375 in a toaster oven for about 15-20 minutes. While I'm at it, I also wrap green beans in bacon, put some brown sugar on it, and secure with a toothpick. Let it bake with the chicken. Talk about yummy! And, yes, my cardiologist also said to spit it out.

Are you buying it because you just want a new truck or are you going to also buy a trailer/5er and sell your Minnie?
